Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Dylan Burns believes he has benefited from being at the club, despite being released in the summer. Burns earned himself a two deal with the Championship side after impressing in a trial during his time at the Nike Academy.

Speaking to Vice Sports, Burns was asked what he got out of joining a club like Nottingham Forest. The youngster revealed he learned a lot during his time there, and the main aspect was that you need to be strong to make it at the top level of professional football. Burns believe players need to step up to the challenge to make it in the game, and that it’s ultimately up to yourself to make this happen.

“I learnt a lot at Nottingham Forest, but the main thing I learnt was that you have to be mentally strong in order to make it to the top. You have to really want it and you have to do everything in your power in order to stay in that environment,” said Burns on his experience at Nottingham Forest.

Burns joined Nottingham Forest in 2014, but only played for the U18s and U21s during his time in England. After spending a loan spell with Grantham Town last season, the New Zealander returned to his home country to sign for Tasman United.
