Leeds United poor start to the new season has well documented, but the same can’t be said for their former forward Mirco Antenucci, after leaving the club only a few months. The 32-year-old signed for SPAL in July, and since joining the Serie B side the striker can’t stop scoring.

Making only his second competitive appearance for SPAL last night, Antenucci was again on target during his side’s clash with Cagliari in the Coppa Italia.

Despite losing 5-1 to the Serie A club Antenucci scored his second goal of the season in the competition, and has now found the net for his new club twice in as many games.

Earlier in the month Antenucci made his debut for SPAL against Messina in the same competition, and the former Leeds Untied star scored after just 21 minutes.

Despite being Leeds United’s top scorer in his first season Antenucci was released by the club in May after two years in England. Since leaving Leeds United the Italian has been critical of the way Massimo Cellino ran Leeds United during his time at Elland Road.
