VfL Wolfsburg have shared their delight after youngster Dzenan Pejcinovic turned down overtures from Manchester City to remain at the club.
Obertmain-Tagblatt cover comments from VfL sports director Sebastian Schindzielorz after the youngster signed a new deal with the German club to end any speculation about his future.
The 19-year-old had reportedly earned attention from Manchester City after impressing at Wolfsburg since joining from FC Augsburg in 2022.
Indeed, a report from Kicker in Germany made it clear that they would be willing to pay a fee worth millions for the 19-year-old, further indicating their belief in his ability and potential.
It seems Pejcinovic has ignored all of that, though, instead electing to sign a new deal with Wolfsburg, who plan to send him out on loan before then bringing him back into the set up at the club.
They have long-term plans for the youngster and have shared their delight at his decision to stay, with Schindzielorz clearly glad to be keeping him from Manchester City.
“It’s not for nothing that Dzenan has aroused the interest of top international clubs,” he said.
“We are therefore all the more pleased that we will continue to pursue this journey together in the long term.”
