Manchester United have been told a €60m price tag for Lisandro Martínez would be a fair price to pay for the defender.
United are pushing to sign the Argentine from Ajax this summer as Erik ten Haag looks to get the rebuild underway at Old Trafford.
Martínez is believed to be among his top targets, and talks are underway with his former club to make a deal happen.
A bid has already been rejected by the Dutch giants, who are not keen to lose another key player after the likes of Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch already departed.
They’ve set a €60m asking price on the centre-back, and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United will pay such a figure for the 24-year-old.
They have been stung by paying big prices for players in the past, and the belief was that the strategy would change moving forwards.
Analyst Aad de Mos believes Manchester United shouldn’t worry about that when it comes to Martínez.
“Martínez is an exceptional player,” he told Voetbal Primeur.
“If you look at the amounts that are paid for Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire, he is definitely worth it. I like that boy.”
