Fiorentina haven’t exactly started their season the way they wanted to, meaning their manager, Beppe Iachini, is finding himself under some pressure at the moment.
Add to that the rumours circling of interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in their star defender Nikola Milenković, and today’s edition of La Nazione isn’t the most upbeat of reads.
Dedicating an entire article to the Serbian’s situation, the local newspaper explain his agent ‘continues to receive signals primarily from two English clubs’.
Those are, you guessed it, Manchester United and Spurs, with the Red Devils long-term admirers of what the defender can offer, as he is capable of playing both at centre-back and right-back.
As for Fiorentina’s demands, it’s said they ‘would not have dropped from €25m’.
That Tottenham would be interested makes sense, seeing as José Mourinho was the driving force behind Manchester United’s original interest in the 23-year-old, and he’s now ‘returned to ask Spurs with insistence to make an effort’.
With a contract in Florence running out in 2022 and ‘nothing closed to the possibility of a renewal’, it remains to be seen what happens, but there’s a strong chance ‘important offers’ could arrive in January for Milenković.
The Serie A side are braced, and it could be both Spurs and United have their chequebooks ready.
