Cuco Martina hasn’t been able to make much of an Everton career since moving from Southampton in the 2017 summer window.
He was a free signing, but with that comes wages, and there’s been no reason to keep him at Goodison Park for the current season.
That saw the fullback move on loan to Stoke City, spending the first half of this campaign in the Championship. That loan was cancelled at the end of January and he moved to Feyenoord until the end of the season.
A return to the Netherlands was potentially a longer term option, with the Eredivisie side having a buying option. However, Voetbal International believe that won’t be used, with the club having a tight budget and incoming manager Jaap Stam looking to balance things.
VI say that Martina will be returning to Everton, and Jordy Clasie will be going to back to Southampton.
Everton have the player on a contract until June 2020, which makes this summer a little difficult. They either have to find someone to pay a transfer fee, or send the player out on loan for the first half of the season.
If he was to go out on loan for the whole season, without an extension, then the potential of money is over.
