After many stories sending Daniele Rugani to Chelsea in the summer, the young centre-back ended up staying at Juventus.
Wanted by Maurizio Sarri, who had previously worked with him at Empoli, the 24-year-old was seen as too important by the Serie A champions to let go, especially after the sale of Mattia Caldara to Milan.
Since then, Rugani has played just 91 minutes of professional football, starting and completing a 2-0 win against Frosinone, and coming on for one minute at the end of a Champions League game against Valencia, during which he managed to pick up a yellow card.
Despite this lack of game time, Gazzetta dello Sport report Rugani is asking for a new and improved contract at Juventus, using the turned down offers from Chelsea as a reason.
It seems the defender feels he would have played more under Sarri at Stamford Bridge than he is now, and wants some sort of compensation for this missed opportunity.
His current deal at the Allianz Stadium is due to expire in June 2021.
