Fenerbahce defender Hasan Ali Kaldirim has given a hint he could remain with the Turkish club. The left back’s contract expires in the summer and he’s been linked with a move to Celtic in the past few days.
Speaking to Mlliyet, Hason Ali was asked about his future at the club following claims Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign him for Celtic. The Turkey international said he’s just concentrating on his football, and hasn’t even thought about his contract renewal.
“At the moment I only focus on the championship. I do not think about my contract, it’s not a problem. I do not talk about money, I’m very happy here. I want to be a symbolic name in the team,” said the defender.
Celtic boss Rodgers has apparently been following the defender all season and is ready to offer Fenerbahçe €1.6m.
Celtic currently have Mikael Lustig and Emilio Izaguirre in their ranks so Hasan Ali would provide competition to them.
Fenerbahce coach Dick Advocaat won’t want to lose the player to Celtic, but the Scottish club will be able to speak to him in the new year with regards to a pre-contract agreement if they fail to sign him this month.
The Turkish international has been on Celtic’s radar for a while and if Hasan Ali decides to join the SPL champions he’ll earn £1.6m per year with a £1m signing on fee.
