Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos has admitted he would like to play in the Premier League again, amid reports linking him with Newcastle and West Ham.
Mavropanos has been quietly impressing in the Bundesliga this season after helping Stuttgart return to Germany’s top flight last season.
He’s one of the stars of the show for the German side, who are currently battling against relegation back to the 2.Bundesliga.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, with several sides thought to be keeping a close eye on his development.
Both Newcastle and West Ham have been linked in the Premier League, with it reported back in the middle of December that the Hammers were keen on him amid their search for defensive cover.
Newcastle joined the hunt not long afterwards, ahead of the January transfer window when Eddie Howe’s side were known to be scouring the market for cover at centre back.
Neither ended up making a move, but Mavropanos’ performances have made a move almost inevitable in the summer and should either Newcastle or West Ham make their move, he’s made it clear he’d be keen.
“Stuttgart is one of the biggest clubs in Germany,” he told BILD when asked about the interest in him.
“At the moment, I’m only concentrating on VfB and making sure we stay in the league.
“I would like to play in the Premier League again at some point. But at the moment, I feel very comfortable at VfB.”
West Ham and Newcastle have been notified.
