Fanatik claim Galatasaray are set to reignite their interest in Sunderland’s Jason Denayer as the Turkish club are unable to agree a fee with Gençlerbirliği for Ahmet Çalık. The Belgian international is currently on loan with Sunderland from Manchester City
Denayer spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, and joined Sunderland during the last transfer window. Denayer reportedly wanted to move to Galatasaray before his Sunderland transfer, but he could still be a keen to return to the Turkish giants report Fanatik.
On Tuesday evening, TV Channel ASpor said in their breaking news that Galatasaray are now looking for Denayer and other defensive targets in England, and they believe signing the Belgian could help in the title race.
Fanatik claim Denayer would love to play for Galatasaray because the defender is currently missing the atmosphere in the dressing room.
Galatasaray left-back Lionel Carole recently told the Turkish media “He almost cried” when he saw Denayer join Sunderland and this would suggest the defender is a highly-respected figure at his former club.
Sunderland boss David Moyes has currently been using Denayer in a midfield role which may not to be welcomed by Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola. Galatasaray will now be hoping Sunderland will release him and then they can look to tie him down on a loan deal, with an option to buy.
It’s a long shot.
