Wolverhampton Wanderers could make a new addition to the squad in January, according to reports from the Portuguese media today.
Newspaper Record writes that manager Bruno Lage has called Toti Gomes to ‘watch him from close’, and the defender is already training in England.
The 22-year-old had been loaned to Grasshoppers, where he has a deal running until the next summer, but could now have the second part of the season at the Molineux.
While Lage evaluates him, Record claims Toti’s loan in Switzerland currently stays in ‘stand-by’.
Since Grasshoppers have the same ‘investors’ as Wolves, the move only depends on the manager’s decision to add him to the squad for the rest of the season.
Gomes was signed by Wolves on a €1m deal from Estoril in the summer of 2020. He had barely landed in England before he was immediately sent to the Swiss side on this loan deal.
He has made 18 appearances for Grasshoppers this season, and that was apparently enough to draw Lage’s attention.
