It’s no secret Manchester City tried signing Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci during the summer transfer window. However, the Italian international and the Serie A club weren’t keen on parting ways yet.
The 29-year-old has been interacting with the Italian media (via Calciomercato), before he joins his international teammates for the upcoming matches.
Bonucci was asked if he’d called Manchester City or the Premier League giants have contacted him, but he was quick to deny those rumours.
He said: “If I contacted Ferran Soriano last summer? I haven’t called anyone. They haven’t also contacted me personally.”
Bonucci is reportedly negotiating a new contract at Juventus, despite his current deal expiring only in 2020. The Serie A giants are keen on keeping him at the club, and it doesn’t seem the player is going to force a move away, at least not at the moment.
Pep Guardiola could look for defensive reinforcements in the near future, but it remains to be seen if Manchester City will revive their interest in Bonucci. Even if they do, the odds would still remain on him staying in Italy and at Juventus.
