The transfer market is usually pretty quiet at this time of the year, except for some urgent cases when clubs need quick fixes and go after free agents.
This seems to be the case of Liverpool, who are losing Virgil van Dijk for a long period and could be chasing another defender to take his place this season.
Just yesterday, we saw the Italian media suggesting many names who the Reds could go after. However, Liverpool could move faster than that, and sign a player without a contract.
That’s the case of Ezequiel Garay, whose situation is explained by Fichajes today.
They recall that Garay left Valencia at the end of his contract this summer, and since he didn’t receive any convincing offers, he ended up without a new club.
Fichajes say the Argentine defender would be a cheap signing for the Reds, as he’d arrive for free and wouldn’t demand big wages for a one-year contract.
The website only presents Garay as an ‘option’ for Liverpool for now, so there are no signs the Reds are actually going for his signing.
