Every time we see that the Portuguese media has a story about Ruben Dias, we check if Manchester United are being mentioned once again.
It’s happened one more time this morning, since Lisbon newspaper Record has the Benfica defender on their front page.
The outlet claims the Eagles are planning to make Dias new Luisão, who made over 500 appearances for the club, and retired last year.
For that to happen, club president Luís Felipe Vieira is looking to give him a new contract, raising his release clause from €66m to €88m, and making him the new club captain.
At the end of the story, Manchester United are mentioned. Record writes that Dias remains on the radar of rich clubs such as the Red Devils, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.
They recall that Benfica have stopped Lyon from signing the player in the past, and should continue to fight to keep him in the squad for many years.
So for any of these clubs to get Dias, they should trigger the release clause before it gets too high.
