Last week, a story emerged in Ivory Coast, thanks to SportMania.ci, that Manchester United were getting very close to Paris Saint-Germain’s Serge Aurier.
The article, picked up by L’Equipe, claimed the Ivorian right-back had agreed in principle to team up with José Mourinho at Old Trafford for next season.
Determined to leave Paris in the summer with two years left on his contract, the defender is said to have rejected offers from his current club to extend his contract.
Well, a few days later, SportMania.ci have a small update on the situation, stating that Barcelona have also made advances to sign the 25-year-old in the summer.
This, however, completely contradicts what is being reported in Catalonia on Monday, with Mundo Deportivo explaining Serge Aurier does not interest Barcelona ‘at all’.
With huge question marks already regarding the likelihood of Aurier being allowed in England in the first place following the Champions League travelling fiasco when he was refused entry ahead of a game against Arsenal because of an ongoing court case, it seems this is getting a bit complicated.
Still, SportMania.ci reassure their readers that Aurier still has a preference, and, according to one of his national team teammates, would choose Manchester United over Barcelona anyways, and that’s where he is likely to end up.
If he’s allowed in the country, that is.
