Sweden captain Andreas Granqvist has told his country’s media he’s got no issues partnering Leeds United’s Pontus Jansson in today’s clash with Belarus. The Leeds United defender is likely to be drafted in after Victor Lindelof picked up an injury in training this week.
Metro.se have reported on comments Granqvist made when asked about possibility of having to play with Leeds United’s Jansson. The Swede said he is happy to partner the 25-year-old, but also Bologna defender Flip Helander. The veteran believes both players are capable of replacing Lindelof following their club for, this season.
“I am willing. Both Pontus and Filip have done well in their leagues and come here with confidence. I’ve played with both of them. It’s very much about having good communication on the pitch,” said Granqvist.
Jansson will be hoping his experience will give him the nod over Helander when Sweden coach Janne Andersson picks his team for tonight’s game. The Leeds United star played in his country’s last international, in which he lined up alongside Granqvist for 45 minutes of the win over Hungary.
