Arsenal and Chelsea have joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in showing an interest in Corinthians’ youngster Robert Renan.
That’s according to Goal Brasil, who say the defender is ‘being targeted’ by the London duo amid his impressive performances for the Brazilian side.
Renan was first linked with a move to the Premier League earlier this year, with a report in June stating that Wolves had noticed him and an offer of €10m was expected to arrive at some point.
That presumably never happened as he didn’t join Wolves and remained in Brazil, where he has continued to impress for Corinthians.
Goal say he has ‘been proving himself’ as a player with a ‘big future ahead of him’ and his performances are already ‘being closely watched’ by European giants.
Arsenal and Chelsea are clubs that have talked to members of the players entourage in an attempt to ‘understand values’ and learn what the player’s career plan is.
This is likely to be the same agent, Eduardo Bou Daye, who travelled to England for talks with Wolves earlier this year, although Goal don’t name him specifically.
Either way, should they Arsenal or Chelsea try to make a move they will face a wall from Corinthians who will ‘not make easy game’.
They own 55% of the defender and will demand that his release clause, worth €50m, be met before any deal can take place.
