West Ham United are eyeing a move for Strasbourg defender Gerzino Nyamsi, who could leave the Alsatian club this summer.
That’s according to RMC Sport, who say the centre-back could be set for a move just a year after joining the French club.
RMC explain that the 25-year-old is ‘having a great season’ after arriving from Rennes last summer and was even the subject of a bid from Napoli in the January transfer window.
The Italians are not the only side the defender is being ‘closely followed’ by, with West Ham also keen and are a club who ‘appreciate’ French defensive players.
They’ve noticed his stats this season, which put him among the best centre-backs in France, and had their scouts keep a close eye on him as a result.
Whether they’re ready to make a move isn’t mentioned; a battle between England and France is ‘expected’ next summer.
Strasbourg are unlikely to let the defender leave on the cheap given his statistics, but the price they’d want isn’t mentioned here.
It’s likely to be a significant increase on the £1.35m they paid either way, with West Ham sure to need to dig deep into their pockets, particularly if they are to beat the Italian competition to his signature.
