Real Sociedad defender Aritz Elustondo has insisted they are heading into their Europa League clash with Manchester United looking to win.
The Spanish side take on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the first leg of their Europa League last 32 clash next week, with the first leg set to take place in Turin after Manchester United were blocked from entering Spain for the game.
Sociedad, who are currently sixth in the La Liga and seven points outside of the top four, will head into the game as underdogs given their size compared to Manchester United and the face United currently sit second in the Premier League.
The first leg will be key to the two-legged tie, with La Real keen to ensure that they have something to fight for come the second leg at Old Trafford.
That’s certainly what Elustondo says is the plan, revealing as much in a recent press conference.
“If we didn’t think like that (they can win), it would be better not to go and play against them,” he said, relayed by El Desmarque.
“The club’s objective and ours is to get through the tie.
“It’s clear to us that we have to get the tie under control in Turin and that’s how we’ll try to do it.
“But I prefer not to talk too much about this game because we have to focus on Getafe.”
