The transfer of Branislav Ivanovic to Zenit Saint-Petersburg isn’t exactly a secret anymore, with pretty much every outlet across England reporting the deal.

The Serbian defender, who signed for Chelsea from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2008 for £10.2m, was used sporadically by Antonio Conte this season, making 16 appearances in all competitions, starting only eight of them.

Clearly keen for some extra time on the pitch, the player was offered an exit by the Russian Premier League outfit, and a move has been negotiated over the past few days.

According to L!fe in Russia, it appears that Ivanovic is now one step closer to completing his move, with the outlet claiming the defender has already completed his medical with Zenit, and is currently waiting to sign his contract, which is said to be for two and a half years with the option to extend it for another year.

Over the course of his nine years at the club, Ivanovic made 377 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 34 goals and picking up 34 assists.
