Grasshopper defender Allan Arigoni has admitted it is ‘nice’ to see his name linked with Chelsea and Barcelona.
Yesterday we covered a report that both clubs were keen on the defender, who has been described as the fastest player in Switzerland.
The report, from Blick, stated that Chelsea and Barcelona were ‘chasing’ his signature, with his performances for Grasshoppers this season having put him ‘on the notice’ for top European clubs.
Chelsea and Barça are said to be ‘especially’ keen, with the latter having sent José Mari Bakero to watch him in person.
While there was no mention of a bid or anything of that nature just yet, just that Arigoni was ‘highly sought after throughout Europe’ and the two clubs seemed to be positioning themselves at the front of the queue.
With the rumours swirling, Corriere Del Ticino sat down to discuss them with the player, and he admitted he didn’t mind seeing his name linked to such clubs.
“It’s nice to know that such big teams are watching me,” he told the newspaper.
“But I’m focusing on Grasshopper, the recovery of the championship, the trip to Chiasso. My focus is there.
“One thing I can say, anyway: as the news came out, my teammates started making fun of me — both in the locker room and on the field.
“But I certainly don’t let it go to my head. I remain a person with my feet on the ground.
“I keep my path tight. And I think of the Grasshopper. What will happen next, well, I can’t predict it.”
