Bologna may seek talks with Leicester City over defender Victor Kristiansen and the €15m purchase option in his current loan deal, with the figure considered high at this point.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, relayed by TuttoBolognaWeb, who say ‘decisive weeks’ are ahead in his potential permanent stay with the Italian side.
Kristiansen joined Bologna on loan from Leicester in the summer following the Foxes relegation to the Championship.
He’s been a regular for them this season, making 14 appearances in Serie A to date and featuring in 61% of available minutes.
That’s not been enough to convince Bologna at this moment in time, though, particularly as his redemption clause is set at €15m.
That figure is considered a little high at this moment in time and so technical director Giovanni Sartori has a decision to make.
He must decide whether that figure is good value and whether to ‘run this risk of making a misstep’ by signing the defender on a permanent basis from Leicester.
Thus, Kristiansen finds himself in an evaluation period, with the next few weeks and the months following it until the end of the season set to be closely watched to work out whether he’s worth the figures involved.
The likely scenario is that Bologna seek talks with Leicester to try and bring it down to a more comfortable figure, although what that would be remains to be seen.
Whether the Foxes would accept it is also another matter, something Sartori and his team will presumably be trying to work out moving forwards as Kristiansen tries to impress.
