Valencia want to keep Tottenham forward Bryan Gil at the club for another season, with this week ‘decisive’ to their plans.
That’s according to El Desmarque, who say the player is aware of the Spanish side’s determination to keep him at the club.
Gil has been with Valencia since January, when Tottenham elected to ship him out on loan to get the game time that wasn’t on offer under Antonio Conte.
He’s proven to be a massive hit at the Mestalla, quickly establishing himself as a key player under Jose Bordalas and earning fan-favourite status in the process.
Several reports over the last few months have made it clear they want to keep him beyond the summer, and El Desmarque now say this week could be ‘decisive’ to those plans.
Like Valencia, Gil is shining, and that could mean a recall to Luis Enrique’s Spain squad later this week, with that set to be named on Friday.
The Spain boss is ‘looking closely’ at the Tottenham man, and he is already on the ‘pre-list’ of options for the clash with Albania and Iceland.
A return to the full squad would be further justification for the move to Valencia, and it’s believed this could push Gil to ‘ask Tottenham’ for another loan move to the Mestalla to ensure he is a part of the squad for the World Cup this winter.
His belief is that he won’t be a regular at Tottenham next season either, and so staying at Valencia and playing regularly would keep him in contention, an opinion that would be bolstered by a return to the squad this week.
Eiher way, for Valencia, the ‘Bryan Gil Plan’ must be ‘implemented sooner or later’, but it now appears they’ve made their choice, and it will be the former.
Whether Tottenham play ball, however, remains to be seen.
