Today could be the day we finally get an answer regarding the future of Chelsea’s Tiemoué Bakayoko.

Far from Thomas Tuchel’s plans, the Frenchman is looking for a way out, and while it doesn’t appear he will get the permanent one he’s seeking, he could find some respite at Milan, who want to bring him back on loan.

Bakayoko knows the club well from his previous temporary spell there a few seasons ago, and previous reports suggested he was more than open to a return, which works in the Serie A club’s favour.

Corriere dello Sport provide a very short update on Tuesday, explaining that ‘in the next few hours, the decisive step is expected’ for the player’s transfer.

It’s stated ‘phone calls’ took place on Monday, and a loan with a right to buy appears to be the formula everyone has agreed on.

Now, it remains to be seen how much that option to make the move permanent is going to be, with Corriere reporting the Italians are ‘in negotiations to get the best conditions’.

We appear to be edging closer…
