The longer we go without Paul Pogba deciding his future at Manchester United, the more stories about Sergej Milinković-Savić will be published.
That’s the way the Italian media works, because they seem to think the Red Devils are still targeting the Serbian should their French star depart for greener pastures this summer.
This was repeated on Monday by Corriere dello Sport, who look at what the future holds for what they describe as the ‘most decisive’ central midfielder in Europe (the likes of Nkunku and Payet play further up the pitch), with his nine goals and nine assists in 30 league appearances for Lazio this season.
With a contract expiring in 2024, this summer could be the right time to cash in at an expensive price, which the newspaper believe ‘will be dictated by those who approach’ the player.
It’s pointed out the player has ‘always been in Manchester United’s thoughts’, who already tried their luck during the summer of 2019 and ‘could return to come forward’.
As for the price, Corriere explain that the amount will ‘become a matter of negotiation’, but Claudio Lotito, Lazio’s owner, ‘is a tough nut to crack and asks for high figures’.
That will be up to Manchester United and their negotiating team, then, who are likely set for a very busy summer ahead.
