Earlier this month, Brahim Diaz expressed his desire to stay at Manchester City for a “long time”.
On July 15th, Mundo Deportivo reported the 18-year-old has ‘numerous offers’, while the player had set his sights on winning the Champions League with the Premier League champions.
Catalan newspaper Sport today claim the attacking midfielder is attracting interest from Girona, but, so far, no decision has been taken and his future should be resolved in the next two or three days.
Pep Guardiola included young players in his preseason squad, but he and the club must now take a decision on what to do with them, including Diaz.
The report claims City’s intention is to offload most of them because they already have enough players in the first team. They want to allow the Spaniard to leave, who has one year left on his contract.
City are worried they could lose the player for nothing if they go against the player’s wish, and are hoping to ‘convince’ the player the ‘best option’ for him would be to leave the club and join Eusebio Sacristán’s side on loan.
The problem there would be the contract situation, and Guardiola ‘doesn’t want to lose his young pearl’ so a renewal would have to be agreed. Sport say these are ‘decisive hours’ in the potential transfer.
