After Tuesday’s claims that Bologna were still ‘researching’ whether or not to go for Pedro Obiang, currently at West Ham, we have an update on Wednesday with a timeline of when a decision could be made.
According to Corriere dello Sport, a meeting is due to take place on Thursday at Casteldebole regarding transfers, with Sinisa Mihajlovic, the Serie A side’s manager, expected to be present.
During said encounter, talks will be undertaken to decide which of either Obiang or Velez Sarsfield’s Nicolas Dominguez will be focused on to bolster the midfield.
They each have pros and cons, and there’s really no way of trying to predict which way things will go.
The West Ham midfielder is definitely the more ‘dependable’ bet, having already played in Serie A with Sampdoria under Mihajlovic, and he would bring more experience to the table.
Price wise, Bologna believe both could be bought for around €10m, so there’s no much difference there.
As you might have already guessed, the big plus in Dominguez’s favour is the wages he will ask, as Obiang is currently on €2.3m/year (around £40k/week) at West Ham.
There’s a brief mention of Giannelli Imbula in there too, but the Stoke player is anything but a priority, clearly on the list just in case everything else collapses.
For now, it’s either Obiang or Dominguez, and we’ll likely get an answer on Friday, or maybe even Thursday if we’re lucky.
