Valencia want to find a solution to the growing issue around youngster Jesús Vázquez amid continued interest from Leeds United.
That’s according to AS, who cover the player today and reveal his future has been discussed by Valencia’s management in a meeting in Singapore this week.
They explain that while Gennaro Gattuso likes the player and Vázquez wants to succeed at the club, both know that he cannot ‘stand still’ and wait for his chance.
That is why he is looking to take advantage of a clause in his contract forcing Valencia to secure him a move away in January if he has not played a certain amount of minutes.
A ‘decision has to be made’ for the good of the team and the player and Valencia will now sit down with the full-back to reach a consensus on the best option for him, with Leeds among them.
They’ve been linked continuously for the past month and again throughout this week, with it explained they are ready to compete for his signature in January.
Now Vázquez’s name has come up in a meeting between Valencia’s management and they want to find a solution that benefits both parties.
The idea is to just send the youngster on loan without an option to buy, something his other suitors such as Inter Milan and Benfica are not interested in. They want that clause included so they can take advantage should he impress on loan.
That could provide Leeds with a chance to put themselves at the front of the queue, although whether they’d accept a loan, and nothing more remains to be seen.
Either way, Valencia know that a decision has to be made about the player and that means this developing story is only going to heat up the closer we get to January.
