Timo Werner is set to stay at Tottenham Hotspur until the end this season, according to Bild.
Spurs initially took the forward on loan from RB Leipzig in January and extended his loan stay until the end of this season.
On Thursday, the 28-year-old struggled in Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against Rangers in the Europa League.
Werner had one shot on target, made 18 passes and failed to win any of his five duels. Ange Postecoglou replaced him after the first half and was highly critical of the former Chelsea man after the tie.
The Tottenham manager even stated the German’s performance against Rangers wasn’t acceptable. This saw a section of Spurs fans ask the club to part ways with him in January.
Bild now claim the ‘decision is clear’ as Werner will continue at Tottenham beyond the winter market and the chance of him leaving Spurs next month is ‘not an issue’.
As a part of the new loan deal, Tottenham have an option to make his stay permanent for €12m. The report states Spurs, as of now, are unlikely to exercise this option.
Werner has a goal and three assists from 19 appearances in all competitions this season.
