Arsenal youngster Kelechi Nwakali is moving to FC Porto on a loan deal this Monday, according to reports from the Portuguese press.

Newspaper O Jogo claims that the 20-year-old is presenting himself to the Dragons today, joining the club on one-year loan spell.

The outlet adds some quotes from Klay Ekeocha, the midfielder’s brother and agent, who is already in the city of Porto to complete the move.

“It’s all dealt with, Nwakali will play for FC Porto in 2018/19.”

Ekeocha has also revealed that Porto wanted a chance to make the transfer permanent, but Arsenal weren’t keen: “I think things will go well for him at FC Porto, who wanted to include a buy option, but Arsenal refused.’

Nwakali joined Arsenal in 2016 in a move from Nigerian side Diamon Academy. Since then, he had loan spells at MVV Maastricht, VVV-Venlo and then MVV Maastricht again.

O Jogo claims that the Gunners couldn’t get him a work permit as he hasn’t been called up by the Nigerian national team, and that’s why he isn’t able to feature for the club for now.
