The Confederação Brasileira de Futebol are hoping to repeat the manner in which Real Madrid got Carlo Ancelotti from Everton as they eye a deal for the Italian coach.
That’s according to UOL, who say the CBF ‘refuses to pay a fee’ for the Real Madrid coach and instead wants an ‘amicable agreement’ with the Spanish giants.
They explain that Ancelotti remains Brazil’s number one choice but they want to get him through a ‘friendly agreement’ with Real Madrid and not pay a termination fine given his current contract expires in June 2024.
Both the CBF and Ancelotti don’t want to leave a ‘sense of disruption’ at the Bernabeu should the negotiation materialise.
Instead, CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues plans to speak to Florentino Perez about an agreement between all parties where all three are happy and there is no acrimony.
That is difficult as Ancelotti is an ‘idol’ at Real Madrid and doesn’t want to leave through the back door following his second successful spell at the club. Behind the scenes he has advised the CBF to deal with Real first and possibility of releasing him.
His move from Everton to Real Madrid is seen at the ‘exemplary’ way of doing things by the coach’s representatives.
He departed Goodison Park in 2021 when Madrid came calling for him to replace Zinedine Zidane. He had been with Everton since 2019 and had a contract until 2024 and did not want to leave the Toffees ‘quarrelling’ with them.
He made it clear he wanted to return to Real and so ‘waited for an friendly agreement’ between the two club’s boards to facilitate the move. That eventually happened and Real Madrid did not pay a fine or a termination clause.
The CBF would like for a similar agreement to happen here, although it may take until Real Madrid are out of the Champions League before things can progress.
