Aston Villa look set to miss out on Bologna midfielder Amadou Diawara following claims in Italy that Napoli are closing in on the 19 year olds. Aston Villa have been linked with the Bologna star this month after they tabled a bid for the youngster.

TMW have today revealed Bologna and Napoli have agreed a transfer fee of €15m following meetings this week. The two parties again met yesterday to discuss the finer details of the deal, but there is still an issue what Napoli are offering Diawara in terms of his salary.

The Serie A side have offered the young midfielder €500k whilst Diawara wants at least double this. Talks will continue on the player’s personal terms, and Napoli will be hopeful the deal can be completed by tomorrow.

Earlier this month Aston Villa joined the race to sign Diawara, after they tabled an offer of €17m with Bologna.

However, despite Aston Villa outbidding Napoli and AC Milan, Diawara is keen to remain in Italy rather than head to England at this stage of his career.
