KV Oostende striker Fashion Sakala is on the verge of completing a move to Rangers, with Steven Gerrard’s side the favourites to secure his signature.
That’s according to Het Nieuwsblad, who back up reports in Scotland today that the Zambian forward is close to moving to Ibrox.
Sakala has been linked with a move to Rangers this week, with it believed the striker, who has 13 goals in 28 games in the Jupiler Pro League this season, is closing in on a deal.
Het Nieuwsblad say the same thing today, stating that ‘the deal is almost complete’ and Sakala can sign a four-year deal with Rangers ahead of next season.
They explain that the striker’s contract is expiring in the summer, and while the Belgian side had offered a new deal, this was in vain as Sakala is instead going to make the free transfer to Rangers and play in the Champions League.
Rangers have confirmed the negotiations but haven’t gone as far as to claim there is an agreement in place as yet.
They were not the only side interested in Sakala with Lille and ‘English interest’ also on the table, but Gerrard’s team drew ‘the longest straw’ and won the race for the 24-year-old.
