If there’s one man who knows how to get the best out of Jérémie Boga, it’s Roberto De Zerbi, with the two working together at Sassuolo in the past.

The Italian manager is now at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he replaced Graham Potter, and while there were early signs of success, with the 3-3 draw against Liverpool, the three losses and a draw since have dampened those down a bit.

The next fixture against Chelsea, where they would face their former manager, is key for Brighton, who will also be turning their attention to the January transfer window, in hope of giving De Zerbi the tools he needs to succeed.

Among those could very well be the aforementioned Boga, who scored 11 goals and picked up four assists from the left-wing during the 2019-20 season.

This comes from Tutto Atalanta, who report that the Brighton manager ‘would be ready to take back one of the jewels that exploded in Serie A under his management at the time of Sassuolo’, meaning Boga.

In fact, they go as far as saying that he could head to the Seagulls ‘in the winter transfer session’, which is somewhat backed up by Gazzetta dello Sport.

Looking at Atalanta and what could happen in the coming months, they explain that a ‘separation in January is not unlikely’ between Boga and his club, ‘perhaps on loan’.

This comes as the player is currently living ‘this year the misery of 48 minutes in three appearances’ under Gian Piero Gasperini, and he ‘appears so far behind in the manager’s hierarchies that it is now difficult to think that his season can turn around suddenly’.

Good news for Brighton, though, who could end up getting a player who is familiar with England from his time at Chelsea, and who would have a point to prove under a manager who knows him well.
