De Telegraaf in the Netherlands carry a report on Thursday saying the transfer of Georginio Wijnaldum to Liverpool is almost done. The Dutch newspaper don’t say absolutely everything is agreed, but they believe further details are a formality, and things can be sorted out today.
Wijnaldum is said to be getting am ‘immediate transfer’ which he sees as a dream, and that comes a day after De Telegraaf said Liverpool was the club Wijnaldum had his heart set on joining, despite interest from elsewhere.
The fee is put at €25m, and De Telegraaf say Wijnaldum could arrive at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground as soon as today.
The Dutch report also states that Newcastle fans have been left confused by their club. After cheering Wijnaldum before a friendly this week, De Telegraaf say Rafa Benitez insinuated the player wouldn’t leave the club just yet, and it seems that has changed very quickly.
