Frank de Boer to Crystal Palace is almost done. De Telegraaf have been excellent in their reporting of the situation, with the Dutch newspaper having great contacts, and on Friday they explain exactly what the process has been.
Crystal Palace compiled a list of candidates and then spoke to each to determine who would be first choice. De Boer held an ‘excellent conversation’ with Crystal Palace part-owner Steve Parish, and that helped move things along.
Negotiations have been ongoing on De Boer’s Crystal Palace contract and have moved ‘at a rapid pace’.
The former Inter Milan and Ajax manager finds the Premier League an ‘unprecedentedly attractive competition’ and is aware his perceived failure in Italy (to be fair to De Boer, Inter are capable of being a basket case under any manager) means it’s unlikely a top club will come in.
Crystal Palace are ‘doing everything to reach an agreement quickly’, and De Telegraaf sound very confident everything is on the verge of being signed and sealed.
Interestingly, De Telegraaf also make a point of saying this appointment would be important for Netherlands football as a whole, with De Boer joining Ronald Koeman to make it two Dutchman in charge of Premier League clubs.
