Club Brugge midfielder Hans Vanaken has been backed to be a hit at West Ham United if they can pull off a deal for him this summer.
West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for the midfielder again this week, with David Moyes keen to add a creative midfielder to his squad after Nikola Vlasic departed on loan.
They’re now working to convince Brugge to sell as the Belgian club have so far resisted any efforts from the Hammers.
Vanaken is key to the situation, though, and reports in Belgium have made it clear he’s pushing for his club to accept an offer as it will be his last chance to play in the Premier League.
That has obviously not gone down well with Brugge fans, who have been keen to point out he will not enjoy the status he does in Belgium with West Ham.
As far as they, and several analysts are concerned, the move would not be a wise one for him to make but Johan Boskamp doesn’t subscribe to that train of thought.
“Well, I understand that he still wants a foreign adventure. It may well be his last chance,” he told Het Belang van Limburg, relayed by Voetbalkrant.
“And David Moyes is crazy about him. He wanted to come and get him a few years ago. West Ham has always been a footballing team.
“So, I see him still able to have two or three good years there. If Club Brugge are willing to let him go of course.”
