Sections of the Danish sport media seem absolutely desperate to have one of their national heroes join one of the world’s biggest football clubs. Over the past week any Kasper Schmeichel story has been jumped upon, with the Leicester City goalkeeper even linked with Real Madrid.
Wednesday sees Danish newspaper BT take a look at which players from the country stand a good chance of signing for a truly top club over the next few years. For this purpose, BT don’t seem to think Tottenham Hotspur belong in that bracket.
So despite Eriksen consistently repeating he’s happy, despite Tottenham being a big club on the up, and despite there being no interest to speak of, BT try and make the case for the attacker joining someone like Real Madrid or Barcelona.
The judgement is: Yep, Eriksen has a pretty good chance of such a move.
And, surprise, so do 3 of the other 5 players considered.
The constant hyping is becoming something of a bore from the Danish sport media, who are generally very good.
Tottenham are a big club, a big enough club for Eriksen, and to be frank there’s absolutely no suggestion in Spain that Barcelona or Real Madrid even have him on the their long lists (very long lists) of players being kept an eye on.
