Leeds United have identified Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Nico Elvedi as a target for the winter market.

Recent claims from the English press have stated the Whites are keen on signing the 28-year-old.

This is relayed by Bild, who then provide their own take on Gladbach’s stance and Leeds United’s interest.

Daniel Farke arrived at Elland Road a month after the German club sacked him in June 2023 and the manager knows the defender from his time at Gladbach.

The Switzerland international was linked to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2023 and reached an agreement before the move collapsed in the final stretch.

Elvedi had previously talked about his dream of playing in the Premier League. Leeds are in the Championship an in firm contention to secure promotion as they are currently leading the table.

In order to further improve Leeds’ chance of returning to the Premier League, Bild claim Daniel Farke wants his side to sign the centre-back ‘now’.

The player is a starter under Gerardo Seoane and developed a good partnership with Ko Itakura in his side’s backline.

Gladbach aren’t willing to let him leave in January to improve their chances of qualifying for Europe as they are eighth in the table, three points behind third placed Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bild claim the ‘exit clause could be the decisive point’, without mentioning any figures. In other words, the Bundesliga side could be helpless if Leeds were to activate his clause this month.
