Leeds United boss Daniel Farke was previously manager at German side Borussia Monchengladbach, where he signed winger Nathan Ngoumou.
The Frenchman played about 21 games under Farke and as Rheinische Post recall, the current Leeds manager compared the winger to a young Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
There’s a belief that was a case of Farke vastly overrating the 24-year-old, who is now struggling at Gladbach.
Rheinische Post state Ngoumou wouldn’t even stand out in the third division of Germany and this comes after his performance against Stuttgart at the weekend.
The newspaper believes Farke’s previous praise of the player has made the situation ‘even more difficult’, and his hyping is labelled ‘astonishing’, given it’s claimed the Leeds United manager didn’t even know what to do with Ngoumou himself.
Constant criticism in the report is aimed at Farke’s judgement of the player as well as the initial decision to sign him. Comparisons with Aubameyang are now seen as somewhat comical.
Ngoumou has a contract with Borussia Monchengladbach lasting until June 2027, and is currently valued at €5m.
