Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise has the choice of four countries as he chooses his international future.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who cover the youngster today and how he is ‘cultivating a paradox’ after making a name for himself in the Premier League.
The youngster has been impressing for Crystal Palace for the last two seasons, with Patrick Vieira showing faith in him and making him a regular, something he has been rewarded for.
Over in France, though, he is undoubtedly the least known of the 35 French nationals in the English championship.
L’Equipe explain that his link with France ‘is not obvious’ and a search online would actually show he has a large Algerian fanbase.
They are just one of four nations he could choose from, with France, Algeria, England and Nigeria all possibilities thanks to his heritage.
The youngster is eligible for the first two via his mother, while his father was Nigerian. England, meanwhile, get their shot as the Crystal Palace man has spent his entire life in the country.
At the moment his focus appears to be on France, with two appearances for their U18s already under his belt and another for the U21s in March this year. His second could come this evening when they take on Norway.
He’s spoken publicly about his love for the country and watching French football as a child and the sentiment has been reciprocated by U21 coach Sylvain Ripoll, who has spoken of him in glowing terms.
“He has a technical touch that interests me greatly, an ability to play under pressure and to create uncertainty in the opponent,” the Bleuets coach is quoted as saying.
“His latest performances with Palace are of a very high level. He is a player whose potential can do a lot of good for the French team.”
At the moment it seems as if it he will elect to go with Les Blues but so far, no decision has been made the Crystal Palace star still has four options on the table.
