In previous seasons, Crystal Palace haven’t been one of the Premier League clubs to scout Portuguese football the most.

They pop up every now and again, but there’s nothing obsessive, unlike Manchester United’s efforts, for example.

With that in mind, that they’ve been scouting FC Porto repeatedly recently, and attending three out of three of the club’s games in the past 8 days, shows there’s likely a target playing for the current Portuguese champions.

But there’s also a suggestion this could be part of a more concentrated Crystal Palace effort to see what’s available in the country ahead of future transfer windows.

That’s because as well as having someone watch Benfica versus Porto on Sunday, they also took in the Portimonense versus Sporting match, report A Bola.

Benfica v Porto kicked off at 5.30pm. the second match at 8pm, it’s not possible the same scout could have watched both, insinuating Palace are expanding their team in the country.

Portimonense got themselves a surprise 4-2 victory.
