While Olivier Giroud appears to be on the exit path at Chelsea these days, it appears the Blues are keen on keeping him a while longer despite interest from Crystal Palace and West Ham.

The man pushing this news is Vincenzo Morabito, said to be an intermediary of the player’s, who revealed the news on Wednesday and continues to push it on Thursday.

This time speaking to Calciomercato.it, the Italian explained that while Chelsea weren’t opposed to the veteran striker staying beyond the current season, clubs such as the Hammers and the Eagles are also keen.

He said: “It’s also true that Chelsea would gladly keep [Giroud] and that there are clubs in England interested, such as Crystal Palace and West Ham. In short, he’s a player who has a big market and in Italy, for some reason, he has never managed to close [a deal]”.

Morabito then goes on to explain the player was once close to Juventus before they decided to sign Alvaro Morata on loan, but that Giroud’s focus, for now, was on the upcoming Euros.

As for Crystal Palace and West Ham in all this, it’s not entirely surprising to see them go after a Premier League proven player, especially since Christian Benteke appears to be following Roy Hodgson out of Selhurst Park while David Moyes never got the Sébastien Haller replacement he wanted in January.

That, plus the prospect of a free transfer, is certainly enticing for the two sides this summer.
