AS Roma have had ‘many requests’ for Grégoire Defrel this summer, report Calciomercato on Friday.

Genoa, Sampdoria, Atalanta and Torino are among the ‘many’ clubs interested in signing the striker but it’s not just in Italy that Defrel is getting attention.

Calciomercato claims there’s also interest from the Premier League, with Watford and Crystal Palace the named clubs.

Both sides have ‘recently asked for information’ about signing the Frenchman, but there’s no explanation of what the answer was or whether it was Roma or the player’s entourage who Watford and Crystal Palace contacted.

Defrel played 20 games last season, mainly as a subtitue, and he scored a single goal, and that came in a 5-2 hammering of Benevento.

He was mainly playing on the right side of Roma’s attack, but it’s not really a great excuse for the poor return, given he didn’t manage an assist.

The season before was better, with 14 goals for Sassuolo, but signing the 27 year old would surely be a gamble and, on the face of it, the transfer doesn’t seem too attractive.
