Crystal Palace and Flamengo may not have yet found an agreement for the transfer of Matheus França, but the negotiations are having some impact on the player’s form.
Globo Esporte now features a story claiming that since the talks for the move started, the player is being much less used by the club, with only two appearances since the window opened.
It’s said there’s a long-time interest from European clubs in the player, but it’s Crystal Palace who really started ‘ahead’.
Following the Eagles’ first bid, which was worth €15m plus €5m in bonuses and rejected by Flamengo, it’s said they now wait for a counter-offer for a new round of negotiations.
It’s said Flamengo started with an initial planning of selling the player for €25m, then started admitting accepting bonuses to reach that amount.
According to Globo Esporte, the Brazilian club have the ‘expectation’ that Crystal Palace and John Textor will reach that amount or get close to it.
The Eagles advantage over Chelsea, who also want França, is that they want to use him right away, while the Blues want to loan him out to Strasbourg. The player is said to be keen on playing in the Premier League.
