Even though we’re still to see strong claims on Crystal Palace’s chase for Paulo Diaz, the rumour continues to be mentioned everywhere in the Chilean and the Argentine media.

What has been mostly been said is that River Plate are trying to sign the player from Al Ahli, and this competition from the Premier League side is putting some pressure on the process.

Argentine newspaper Clarin has a story saying River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo is angry about the situation, since the club have until Saturday to register the defender for the Copa Libertadores.

It’s said that River offered US$2m for 50% of the player’s rights, and Al Ahli demanded US$3m. Then River offered US$4m for 80%, and the Saudi side made a counter-offer of US$5m for 100%.

Then Clarin claims that added to the complicated situation, Premier League side Crystal Palace are also interested in the Chilean international.

There’s a mention coming from Chilean outlet Dinamo as well. After reporting the whole situation with River, they say it seems that Palace have the amount needed to match Al Ahli’s demands.

And AS is another one naming the London side. They actually bring an opinion piece saying the best move for Dias would be to sign for River. On the interest from Palace, they say the opportunity is ‘captivating’ since they would take him to the most attractive league in the world.
