Holstein Kiel midfielder Jae-sung Lee is keeping his options open this summer as he hopes for Crystal Palace to reignite their interest.
That’s according to Kicker, who explain that Palace saw a January move for the 28-year-old knocked back by the German club.
They report that Lee, who is out of contract in the summer, has recently been linked with a move to Hoffenheim.
Indeed, those reports claimed that the player was ‘planning’ to join the club and only the final details of the move needed to be clarified.
Kicker’s information is different, though, with it stated that any move is ‘still a long way off’ and there is ‘nothing to suggest’ that an agreement is imminent or the transfer will be announced soon.
While Hoffenheim are keen, the South Korean is actually keeping them at arms length as he wants to ‘keep open the option of a move to England’.
He had interest there in January from Crystal Palace who ‘had their eyes’ on the player but saw their efforts rebuked by Kiel, who ‘waved it off’ despite his expiring contract as they wanted to preserve their chances of promotion.
He’s hoping Crystal Palace are still keen despite that, with him sitting on five goals and four assists in 24 2.Bundesliga appearances this season.
If they are remains to be seen, but he is certainly keeping the door open for a move in the summer despite interest from elsewhere and a considerable step up already seemingly on the table.
