Ismaïla Sarr is without question the most ‘bankable’ player at Rennes, report France Football in their magazine this week.
In a transfer special looking at possible deals in France over the couple of windows, Sarr is picked out as one of the players attracting interest from the Premier League.
He came through the Generation Foot system in Senegal and moved to Metz in 2016, it’s the same route Sadio Mane took, so there’s inevitably links being made between the two, especially given they’re both quick and flexible attackers.
Rennes paid €17m, a huge fee for the French club and they’d be looking for a significant profit on that. France Football report that whilst Arsenal ‘seem very interested’, the 20 year old could actually move to a club lower down the Premier League first, again like Mane did.
On that note, it’s stated that ‘among the clubs susceptible to making a significant offer’ is Crystal Palace. Indeed, Roy Hodgson’s club is the only one named in that regard.
It’s believed Palace would be interested out of a fear of losing Wilfried Saha, and Sarr’s estimated price is put at over €30m.
