It seems that not a day goes by without a story in France being published about the future of Steve Mandanda at Crystal Palace.

After all, it is understandable, considering the 31-year-old has been the country’s number two goalkeeper for as long as we can remember, and his recent absence from Didier Deschamps squad for the World Cup qualifiers certainly didn’t help his case.

Following the return of Dimitri Payet to Marseille, speculation about Mandanda once again wearing his former Ligue 1 club’s shirt has been rife, and former France international Christophe Dugarry believes his time at Selhurst Park is over.

He explained on SFR Sport, relayed by Le10: “It’s the end for him at Crystal Palace, he will leave for Marseille. They’re looking for a keeper, and I think he wants to return there. The dynamic at Crystal Palace is positive with Hennessey, he’s got his bearings with the defence.

“That’s the cruelty of competition. That’s how it is. Steve will return to Marseille, I’m telling you.”

These statements come about a week or so after the Crystal Palace goalkeeper had to put an article to bed via his Facebook page after FootMercato reported he had already reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 club for next season.

Explaining that hadn’t happened, Mandanda made it clear his sole focus was with the Premier League side until the end of the season.

After that, who knows?
