Crystal Palace star Daniel Muñoz is facing a legal battle over unpaid fees to an intermediary involved in his move to Selhurst Park.
That’s according to AS Colombia and Semana, who both cover the situation today and the potential issues in front of the Crystal Palace full-back.
Semana explain that Mr. Rubén Darío Caicedo has instructed lawyers, namely Diana Carolina Botero, to start legal proceedings against Muñoz.
Caicedo acted as an intermediary on Muñoz’s move from KRC Genk to Crystal Palace in the January transfer window but is yet to receive the ‘fees’ that are owed to him as part of the deal.
He’s now published a letter, via journalist María Chavarro, in which the matter is detailed and the various things he is claiming.
This letter claims that it was Caicedo who contacted Muñoz about a move to England and then facilitated the transfer to Crystal Palace in January. As a part of this he was owed ‘equivalent to ten percent (10%) of the value of the contract.’
It then explains that while Crystal Palace have paid their fees, Muñoz has not complied with the “fees that correspond to him in return for the work performed.”
Caicedo has since spoken to the Palace defender, who has reportedly expressed gratitude for the role he played in the transfer. Mr Caicedo is yet to receive any payments from him, however. The letter concludes that the deadline for the payment is 21 November and if it remains unpaid after that point then legal proceedings will be initiated.
This is confirmed by journalist Diego Rueda, who explained what is going on to Caracol Radio’s Vbar, relayed by AS Colombia.
“They will sue Daniel Muñoz,” he said.
“They sent us this. A document of a lawsuit that is coming for Daniel Muñoz and his representatives for non-payment upon his arrival at Crystal Palace, the same thing that happened in the case of Davinson where they have to pay Néstor Villarreal.
“They are charging him 10% of €12m. They are charging him €1.2m.”
